This back to school season Ruby and Roo are loving new kids wear brand Smalls.
Merino wool has long been the secret weapon of the sports world, now Smalls have created the UK’s first fashion forward range of superfine merino next to skin wear for 2-12 that will become a staple in your childrens wardrobe this Autumn/Winter season.
Superfine merino is amazingly soft and really not like wool as you remember! Its fibres are so fine (a human hair is 60-80 microns, standard wool is 30-40 and our merino is 18!). It won’t itch even the most sensitive skin; it’s anti-allergy, its great for eczema sufferers and it’s naturally flame retardant. Smalls merino wool regulates body temperature, so even in hot sweaty classrooms the moisture is drawn away from the body and released… no more smelly kids….these sheep are clever!
On top of this, Superfine merino has the highest weight to warmth ratio of almost any fabric so in the winter that means less bulk, less layers and less complaining! They are cleverly designed with no itchy labels and come with a super cool collectable bag tag that will make sure your child’s school bag is the best on the block.
Most importantly, is that you can throw them in the washing machine at 40degrees once a week after a few wears and even tumble dry it on low. This stuff is amazing.
Co-founder Emma-Jane says “For us it’s about having a few nice things that last forever (literally) instead of masses of white, greying misshapen vests sitting in your wardrobe. To coin a phrase it’s “non-disposable fashion”
Co-founder Cat says “Not all merino is created equal, so beware of imposters. Good superfine merino won’t itch and won’t shrink in the wash! Like all things..you get what you pay for! Wear them on their own or under everything to stretch your summer wardrobe in to the cooler months”
Smalls are launching with Selfridges from August so if there’s one thing you do for your precious little ones this term, kit them out everyday in a layer of Smalls.

Have you ever wanted to have everything in your life sorted? Do you wish you had more time to spend with your kids? Ruby and Roo know the people who can help with both issues.
Ten years ago SORTED was established as a lifestyle management company – the love child of a private personal assistant and a concierge service – all fancy terms for an extra pair of hands and a second brain for people with busy lives and active families.
Annabel Moorsom, one of the Founders of SORTED explains, “one of our earliest clients was paying a nanny to come in at weekends to look after her children, so she could catch up with her paperwork and admin. Crazy! We found her a part-time PA who went to the house once a week, much like a cleaner, and the mother now spends weekends out and about having fun with her family.”
Little or large, SORTED provide a PA who can help with anything – as long as it’s moral and legal! We know people who use their PAs for paying bills, phoning utility companies, arranging kid’s school/play schedules, organising house moves, sourcing nannies, tons of stuff!
But SORTED are also there for the fun things – we know they plan child-friendly holidays, book nights out for parents and help with personal shopping, among other things, meaning the parents can enjoy their spare time.
click here for more ideas of what they can do, or call them to set them a challenge.
They’re very friendly and so well-connected that one call to them can save you hours of frustration on the phone as well as give you back your precious personal time. We know from experience that their PAs are discreet, confidential and thoroughly vetted and they also find Nannies and Mannies who do PA work too.
